FAQ

How do I get my survey equipment to you for service?

NSS Canada offers a wide range of survey equipment repair services for a number of different products. You can email RepairsAdmin@NSSCanada.com to speak to the Repair Administrator to inquire whether or not your surveying instrument can be serviced.

If you need to have your instrument serviced or repaired, you can drop off or courier your equipment to our Sudbury office and provide the following information:

  • Business Name
  • Address to return unit(s)
  • Phone Number of end user contact (First & Last Name)
  • Email of the end user contact 
  • Purchase Order or Requisition Number
  • Issue(s) experienced, repair requests, and any other information that will be helpful to the technician
  • Note, please keep accessories like chargers, batteries and memory cards.  We don’t need them and we wouldn’t want them misplaced during the repair process.
How much will it cost?

Each instrument will incur different costs depending on what type it is and the service needed. 

For example, a service calibration will be less than a complete overhaul or rebuilt if your equipment has received damage from a fall.

All instruments are thoroughly inspected and a comprehensive estimate will be provided to you prior to completing any repair work.

How long does it take to get my survey instrument back?

Repair times vary depending on what type of instrument and how big of a repair it will be.  We may need some parts we don’t have on hand, so this can lengthen the time.  At times we experience seasonal backlogs, ex. Spring before construction season or end of year.

We will do our very best to have your equipment back to you as soon as possible and will keep you updated should it be longer than 3 weeks.

I can’t go without my survey instrument, can I rent an instrument while mine is in for service?

We can arrange to have a rental unit shipped to your location to use while your instrument is in for service.  We would be happy to discuss our rental rates and policies with you should this be a requirement.

How often should I service my surveying instruments?

It depends on how much you use them and the conditions to which they are exposed.  But as a general rule, you should have your instruments serviced at least once a year to make sure they are accurate and in good working condition.
